Ala Moana Bamboo Longboard

Sector 9 longboards have an impeccable reputation. The Ala Moana bamboo longboard is a particularly popular model – and for good reason. The longboard has gullwing sidewinder trucks that handle sharp turns incredibly well.

Other standout features its unique design for hard carving slalom style riding. A short wheelbase makes these Sector 9 longboards maneuverable. Add Sector 9 69mm or 72mm wheels for optimal performance.

Sector 9 Super Shaka Longboard Review

The Sector 9 Super shaka longboard is the perfect downhill/cruising board for any expereience range. The super shaka is cut specifically so that you don’t have to worry about wheelbite unless your foot is hanging over the side and scraping your shoe. Another really great thing about the super shaka is the long wheelbase, it’s as long as ANY longboard will ever get, this will give you the maximum stability you can get as well as the cleanest feeling you could possibly get from this type of longboard. I recommend the Super Shaka to anyone that takes long commutes or is really into doing downhill.

The Super shaka is perfect with san clemente trucks and wheels however the deck itself isn’t making it our most popular board. For wheels I definitely recommend sector 9′s or orangatang. For trucks I recommend getting gullwing chargers, or bombers. The Super shaka also comes with abec 5 bearings that would be much better replaced with some bones reds or if you have the money some sector 9 ceramics, they’re definitely worth it.

Sector 9 J-Bay longboard

The Sector 9 J-bay longboard is a great board whether you're looking for a carver, cruiser, light bombing, or light sliding board. I've found the J-bay to be super comfortable on those long treks across towns, it's actually my friends board but he let me test it out for a couple of days. The mild "W" shaped concave conformed nicely to my feet and kept my feet locked in without the feeling of discomfort that I've found some harsh "W" concaves to give. The board also has a slight camber and is decently flexible for pumping through town and that surfy feel that a lot of flexible boards give.

One of the greastest things about the J-bay is the Bamboo, which not only looks sweet in my opinion but is great for the environment and is actually quite durable, in fact, could even be more durable than most wood. My friend has had this board for quite some time, and it still hasn't given into that sagging or dead feel that flexible boards especially can give into. He's riding this setup with Gullwing Chargers, Sector 9 wheels, and reds bearings, however if you plan to use it for cruising and carving exclusively I would suggest trying out some gullwing sidewinders, but the chargers are excellent and even though the board isn't strongly suited for downhill boarding we were riding it down our favorite hill yesterday at 30+ mph. I recommend the J-Bay to anyone looking for a solid cruising or carving board, that can still stick it to some hills if you're into downhill at all.

Sector 9 Finger Longboard Review

The sector 9 fingers longboard is great for cruising around town or carving the park. The fingers comes with wheel cutouts which helps prevent wheelbite (which sucks no matter what you’re doing). The fingers also has a slight kicktail for added maneuverability and stability. The fingers also has a short wheelbase for sharp and precise turns. I recommend the fingers to anyone looking for a good board for carving or cruising.

The fingers comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I suggest buying some of our premium trucks and wheels. For wheels I suggest sector 9′s in a 70mm or higher, I especially like orangatangs and abec11′s. For trucks I recommend getting sidewinders, these are extremely responsive and will make your carving at the park like riding through hot butter. The fingers also comes with abec 5 bearings but I recommend getting reds because they’re only 10$ more and make 10 times the difference. For more cheap longboards please visit this link Cheap Longboards.

Sector 9 Goddess Longboard Review

The sector 9 goddess longboard is perfect for downhill sliding, cruising, and carving. The Goddess has a shorter wheelbase then most boards of this type, making it easier to transition into and out of slides, and for sharper more precise turning at the park. The Goddess also has wheel cutouts to help prevent wheelbite on the extremely sharp turns and those laybacks on those steep hills. I recommend the goddess to anyone from amateur to expert looking for a good sliding/carving board.

The sector 9 goddess comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend customizing your board with some of our premium trucks and wheels. For trucks i recommend buying chargers or bombers if you’re going to be sliding but if you’re not then definitely get the sidewinders. For wheels I recommend getting any sector 9 wheel in a 70mm or higher. As for bearing the board comes with abec 5′s but these can wear out fast going at high speeds, so I recommend buying some reds which are only 10$ extra but make a load of difference. For more cheap longboards please visit this link Cheap longboards.

Sector 9 Patches Mini Longboard

The sector 9 patches mini longboard is perfect for making the commute to school, work, family, etc, The patches is also great for, ramp riding, street tricks, or even the bowl at the park. The patches has a really small wheelbase making for sharp, precise turns which makes turning sharp corners easy as slicing melting butter with a hot knife. The patches also has a wide kicktail for easy turns on street corners and more maneuverability on the ramps.

The patches comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I recommend buying some of our premium products. For trucks I recommend independents, chargers, or even mission 1′s. For wheels I recommend getting sector 9′s in a 60mm or getting any wheel in around that size I especially like abec 11′s, zig-zags, and orangatangs. The patches also comes with abec 5′s but I highly recommend getting some reds they’re only 10$ more and they make quite a difference. For more cheap longboards click this link cheap longboards

Sector 9 Vegas Mini Longboard

The sector 9 vegas mini longboard skateboard is perfect for cruising around town, doing tricks, ramp riding, and fun at the park. The sector 9 vegas mini comes with wheel cutouts to help prevent wheelbite, which is something you don’t want no matter what you’re doing . One of the greatest things about the vegas is that you can store it just about anywhere, you can put it in trucks, backpacks, luggage, (perfect gift), etc. The vegas also has a kicktail to help maneuver those thight corners and really helps to ride those mini ramps.

The vegas comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend chipping in some extra money for some of our more efficient products. For trucks i recommend independents, mission 1′s, or chargers. For wheels I recommend getting some sector 9′s, orangatangs, abec 11′s etc. anything in a 60mm or higher. The vegas also comes with abec 5′s but I recommend buying some reds or sector 9 ceramics.

Sector 9 Costa Mini Longboard

The Sector 9 costa mini longboard skateboard is the perfect little ride for carving, cruising and ramp riding. The costa mini is great because of it’s short wheelbase for weaving through traffic like it’s nobodies business. One of the best things about the costa mini is it’s size, it’s easy to carry, can be store in lockets, under desks, in cabinets, duffel bag, you can bury underground if you want (don’t recommend). I recommend the costa mini to anyone who wants an amazing little cruiser.

The costa mini comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend buying some of our premium trucks and wheels. for trucks I recommend getting some independents or chargers. For wheels I recommend sector 9′s, abec 11′s or orangutangs or any wheel in a 60mm or higher for that matter. The costa also comes with abec 5 bearings but I highly recommend getting some reds, they’re only 10$ more and they’re worth every cent.

Sector 9 Luke Longboard

The sector 9 luke longboard skateboard is…alright I’m not gonna lie, it’s MASSIVE. If you don’t want to carry a 15 pound mass of skateboard in your hand around this board isn’t for you…however, I near guarantee a girl (or guy) that sees you riding this is going to think you’re the sexiest thing on the block (don’t hold me to my word on that one). The luke however is similar to the OG cloud it’s just bigger and has a much wider wheelbase, this is by far the longest wheelbase of any board in our shop. I recommend the Luke to anyone who wants a killer ride and enjoys trips with friends and family, grab your kids, grab yourself….and plow over whatever’s in your way, this is definitely the tonka truck of skateboarding.

The luck comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I suggest customizing your boards with some of our premium products, For trucks I recommend sidewinders for anything except downhill, if you plan on doing downhill I recommend getting chargers or bombers. For wheels I recommend sector 9′s or arbors…just anything in a 70mm or higher if you have the extra money get some orangatangs or abec 11′s. The luke also comes with abec 5′s but I recommend getting reds, they’re only 10$ more and it’s worth every penny

Sector 9 Sidewinder Longboard

Sector 9 Longboard – Reflections

Assembled with sidewinders these trucks are so unique and fun that we had to design a series of boards around them. A double stacked kingpin with 2 pivot ponts per truck basically allow for a truck with “Yogi-like” flexibility. Many that ride them won’t ride anything else after.

The reflections is the only fiberglass sandwhich board in the series. With trucks allowing you to pump for speed instead of pushing, the fiberglass camber/combo amplify’s the tight turns with spring loaded action.

The reflections graphic features a beautiful Sunrise barrel shot from Clark Little.

Sector 9 Lombok Longboard

Sector 9 Lombok Longboard

The newest cosmic series longboard in the sector 9 series is the Lombok. It is the largest board at 46″ long. This board is great for cruising at high speeds, and surfing the streets. It has a nice amount of flex to make for smooth riding and flwoing turns. It also sports a kicktail that can be used to help you manuver around tight spots or lift the nose up over a curb. The lombok is a great super cruiser style longboard.

The lombok was built for speed and cruising. So make sure to set it up with a nice 70mm wheel such as the sector 9 nineball wheels in either blue or green. A nice fast bearing like some bones reds will make it fast and smooth when cruising the streets or boardwalk. And last and most important for smooth carving are the trucks. I would recommend anything either 10″ or 180mm such as gullwing chargers, paris, or randal trucks. They are all a great choice for the lombok.

Short Lived Sector 9 Longboards

With the new spring 2010 Sector 9 longboards coming out soon they are getting rid of some short lived boards. Here are a few that are no longer going to be in production or are getting a maker over to the graphic; carbon tr3 (discontinued), sunset(new name and graphic), whistler(new name and graphic), off the wall 2(new name and graphic), sand wedge(new graphic), most pit(new name and graphic), seedling (new name and graphic). So in total that will be 7 changes. One board discontinued completely, 1 with just a graphic update, and 5 new names and graphics.

Favorite new graphic has to be the newer version of the off the wall 2. Soon I will release the new graphic of this board which is now called the sector 9 tree barrel. Another great graphic change for spring 2010 is the sand wedge. Not too stoked on the change of the seedling graphic however I do think it will suite a lot of female riders as it is converting back to the older style graphic similar to the scarab or makosa that some of you may be familiar with.

New Spring 2010 Sector 9 Longboards

Yes, it is finally time! The spring 2010 sector 9 longboards are just about ready to hit the shelves. This week the new version of the sand wedge with a new graphic will be hitting the shops for the first time. In total there are 7 new changes being made to the boards. It seems the carbon tr3 is no longer going to be around as they are adding a new carbon fiber board called the carbon decay which is similar to the carbonite just a lot smaller at only 37.7″ long and 9.2″ wide. It is going to be a great little board that will manuver super tight and is light weight, highly recommended for college students looking to get to class. The small size of the carbon decay will also allow for easy stash under your desk or strapped to your skate-pack.

Recommended set up for the carbon decay:

I would set it up with a nice wide truck for added stability such as the 10″ gullwing chargers or even some 180mm randal trucks. A nice smooth abec 7 bearing such as the sector 9 cosmic bearings would be a perfect fit or this little speed board. I would set it up with a slalom/carving style wheel such as the orangatang in-heats in either orange or purple. I would go with the orange wheels for a rougher surface or the purple if the riding surface is somewhat smooth. This board is available in 3 differnt colors; yellow, green, blue.

Sector 9 Mini Longboard Skateboards

Sector 9 Mini Longboards

Ok here are my top 5 favorite sector nine mini longboards along with my recommended set up for trucks, bearings and wheels. Keep in mind these are in no particular order just the top 5 that come to mind.

Sector 9 City Crusher: Trucks- 9″ Gullwing Mission trucks, 76mm abec 11 flywheels, rush abec 7 bearings. The city crusher is one of my favorite mini’s that incorporates flex into the board

Sector 9 Montage: Trucks- Gullwing mission trucks, 60mm abec 11 noskoolz, bones reds bearings. I picked this board as it is the smallest sector 9 mini out and it is great for travel.

Sector 9 Coconut: Trucks- Gullwing Charger, 65mm sector 9 wheels, sector 9 platinum bearings. This board has a great little pop to the deck with a nice smooth flex which helps create smooth flowing turns for a shorter wheelbase.

Sector Rasta N8V: Trucks- Independent 149mm, 60mm abec 11 no skoolz, sector 9 greaseball bearings. Well why not a rasta graphic board. You always need a rasta inspired board in your list of tops.

Sector 9 Big Rock Bamboo: Trucks- Gullwing Mission, 61mm sector 9 wheels, rush abec 9 bearings. Ok so bamboo wood is great for the environment as it grows crazy fast. This little mini is super lightweight and can turn on a dime a great choice for a mini especially if you are looking for a bamboo board.

Sector 9 Longboard Skateboards

Sector 9 Longboard Skateboards

Yes spring is near and you know what that means. Yep, it’s time for the release of new longboards. It seems like just a few weeks ago sector 9 release the entire new line of boards and now they are coming out with some new ones??? That’s right a handful of boards are in production right now and will be hitting the skate shops in the next 4-6 weeks. There are going to be some really cool editions to the new longboard skateboards coming out. One of my favorite is a newer version carbonite board that is just a little shorter that will be great for pushing, cruising, and carving.

I can’t give out too much information yet but just be ready for the new release which will be available soon. Also soon to come all the new landyachtz longboard skates will be introduced so keep an eye out for that. This spring should be epic in the longboarding world.

Sector 9 Luke Longboard.

The sector 9 luke longboard is great for cruising…and boardpooling, in fact I’m not entirely sure just one person can push it. The luke has an extremely long wheelbase, this is like, the semi of skateboards just with 4 wheels instead of 18 wheels. The luke also has a slight kicktail, for comfort, this board is truly too big to be trying to kickturn with it, however if you do street tricks effectively with this board BY ALL MEANS please send a video. I recommend the luke to anyone looking for the most amazing cruiser ever.

The sector 9 luke comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend customizing your baord with some of our quality products. For trucks I recommend bombers, charger, or sidewinders. For wheels I recommend anything in a 75mm+ the bigger the wheels for this…the better. the luke also comes with abec 5′s but I suggest getting some reds or sector 9 ceramics.

Sector 9 Costa Mini Longboard Review

The sector 9 costa mini longboard is perfect making it from point a to point b ( as long as there is concrete). The costa comes with wheel cutouts which really help prevent wheelbite. The costa also has (like all of our great mini’s) a really short wheelbase that makes for sharp and precise turns and no worries about what corner might pop up out of nowhere. I recommend the costa mini to anyone looking for an amazing little board with a lot of versatility, who says big things can’t come in small packages.

The costa mini comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I recommend getting some of our premium trucks and wheels. For trucks I recommend independents, chargers or bombers. For wheels I recommend sector 9′s in a 60mm or higher. the costa mini comes wit abec 5′s but I highly recommend getting some reds with this they’re only 10$ more and they’re the best thing you can get for the money.

For wheels I recommend getting sector 9′s in a 60mm or higher. The patches also comes with abec 5′s but I highly recommend getting some reds they’re only 10$ more and they make quite a difference.

Sector 9 Vegas Mini Longboard

The sector 9 vegas mini longboard is perfect for cruising around town, doing tricks, ramp riding, and fun at the park.

For wheels I recommend getting some sector 9′s, anything in a 60mm or higher. The vegas also comes with abec 5′s but I recommend buying some reds or sector 9 ceramics.

Sector 9 Bullet Longboard Review

The Sector 9 bullet longboard is perfect for cruising, carving and downhill. The Bullet has a drop through flush mount system for a lower center of gravity, and more stability. The bullet is also shaped to be super responsive for those tough carves at the park. The sector 9 bullet also unlike most of our other boards of this type is a bit longer. I recommend the bullet to anyone who needs a good board for carving or downhill.

The sector 9 bullet comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I recommend buying some of our more efficient trucks wheels. For trucks I recommend getting chargers or bombers these are perfect for stability at high speeds and swift turns at the park. For wheels I recommend getting the sector 9′s in a 70mm or higher. The bullet also comes with abec 5 bearings, but I recommend getting reds (for any board) they’re only 10$ extra and make a world of difference.

Sector 9 Carbonite Longboard

The Sector 9 carbonite longboard is perfect for getting around town, carving the park, or bombing your local hill. The carbonite is actually one of sector 9 most unique addition to their line of downhill boards. The carbonite has a drop through flush mount for a lower center of gravity and more stability going down hills. The interesting thing about the carbonite is that it’s an 1.25in. shorter in the mid section than any of our other downhill sector 9 boards. I recommend the carbonite to any amateur or even hardcore downhill rider.

The carbonite comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I recommend getting some of our premium trucks and wheels. For trucks I recommend bombers or chargers for this board, these are perfect for any occasion whether you’re doing downhill, carving, or just cruising around town. For wheels I recommend getting some sector 9 wheels in a 70mm or higher. The carbonite also comes with abec 5 bearings, but these can wear out extremely fast doing downhill and are likely to bust or overheat and warp so for bearings I recommend getting some reds, they’re only 10$ extra but I still recommend keeping your bearings lubed at all times if you’re a hardcore downhill rider.

Sector 9 Ala Moana Bamboo Longboard

The sector 9 ala moana bamboo longboard is a great board for making the commute across town or carving at the park. The ala moana is made of bamboo which grows 4 feet a week and is just as pliable and durable as maple, making it great for the environment at no harm to your board. The ala moana also has a relatively short wheelbase for sharp, tight turns. I recommend the ala moana to anyone looking for an excellent carver or cruiser and wants to help the environment.

The ala moana comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but I highly recommend customizing this board with our premium trucks and wheels. For trucks I highly recommend getting gullwing sidewinders, this board was one of the few boards customized for these trucks. For wheels I recommend the sector 9 wheels in a 70mm or higher. The ala moana also comes with abec 5 bearings but I highly recommend buying some reds they’re only 10$ more and they make a world of difference.

Sector 9 Reflections Sidewinder Longboard

The sidewinder series longboards are very unique as they use the highly popular patented sidewinder trucks. The double kingpin pivot system allows for a higher range of motion creating amazing carves like no other style of longboard truck. The sector 9 reflections longboard is one of just 4 sector 9 longboards that comes with these trucks however you can put them on just about any sector 9 longboard to get the same carving ability just make sure to ask an expert if they will fit a certain board correctly. The reflections longboard is compact, flexy, fast, and turns better than any other sidewinder longboard. It is the only sidewinder longboard that uses fiber-glass layers to create the flex that longboards are known for. The extra flex helps this board turn ever sharper if you could imagine that being possible.

The sector 9 reflections sidewinder longboard should be set up with nothing but the best and that is the sidewinder trucks. As far as wheels go you want a good slalom style, or wide surface area wheel with a flat edge that helps to grip the ground creating harder carving turns and keeps you from bouncing too much while turning at higher speeds. A few good recommendations for that style wheel are the sector 9 69mm wheel, the some of the most popular wheels of this style are the newer orangatang wheels in either 70mm (4 president) or 75mm (in-heat) sizes. They come in orange and purple colors. Orange is 80a hardness and the purple is 84a just slightly harder. A good bearing for the sector 9 reflections would have to be the sector 9 cosmic abec 7 bearings. They are a great price and super smooth.

Sector Nine 2-for-1 Longboards

Seriously… 2-for-1 sector 9 longboards? Yeah it’s true, sort of… Composed of the sidewinder series and cosmic series longboards the sector 9 reflections longboard is 2 parts into 1. It uses the famous gullwing sidewinder trucks which is the sidewinder alter ego and it also is composed of part cosmic series which means the deck is super flexy with thin layers of maple and fiberglass that add a smooth surf feel to the ride. Must be why the reflections is one of sector 9′s most popular longboards.

But wait, that’s not the only 2-for-1 sector 9 longboard. You must know about the sector 9 ala moana longboard. The sector 9 ala moana is basically a 3-for-1. It is part bamboo series, part sidewinder series. So what’s the other series? Well at 31.75 inches long the exact same length as the rasta native longboard it qualifies to fit in the mini series too. So the sector 9 ala moana longboard has many aspects to make it the most unique longboard, wait mini longboard in the sector nine line-up.

Sector 9 Mainland Longboard Review

Ok so we got a bunch of new sector 9 longboards in and I decided to start taking some of the demo boards for a spin in our parking lot. One of the first boards I took for a ride was the sector 9 mainland longboard. The board was set up with 65mm sector 9 wheels, sector 9 greaseball bearings, and gullwing mission trucks. I was thirsty so I jumped on and took it next door to the vending machine to get a Dr. Pepper. The flex in the deck was really nice and made for a fun little ride. The trucks however were surprisingly loose and manueverable. A few little twists with a skate tool put them just into the perfect spot and made it a little more stable. I was actually very surprised at how well the mainland performed with the gullwing mission trucks as I always thought they didn’t allow for turns as sharp and smooth as the board rode.

So with that in mind I would recommend to anyone who wants the sector 9 mainland longboard to set it up pretty much factory built. The only thing I would possibly change would be the bearings to an abec 7 cosmic series bearing as it is a cosmic series longboard and possibly some 70mm retro zigzag wheels, or orangatang 4 president 70mm wheels in purple as they allow you to get a little more power behind your turns and really pump in and out of the turns using the flex in the board without bouncing too much. Overall I would give the board an 8 out of 10.

Sector 9 California Pintail Longboard Review

The sector 9 california pintail longboard is great for bombing hills and carving really this board can become just about anything you customize it to be, though I wouldn’t recommend kickflipping a 4 stair with this monster (if you can, kudos to you). This board comes with wheel cutouts so you can use just about any truck on it you want. Like I said earlier though the wheel cutouts and long wheelbase make this board so customizable that you can really do just about anything with it.

The california pintail comes with san clemente trucks and wheels but thought these would suffice just fine you can get something loads better for just a few extra dollars. For trucks I recommend bombers and chargers for trucks for downhill and sidewinder if you want to carve and cruise. For wheels I recommend any of the sector 9 wheels in a bout a 70-75mm I recommend a 85a or harder for sliding or 80a and below for anything else. For bearings since you just some abec 5′s which aren’t all bad but if you’re bombing hills can sometimes blow and the abec 5′s don’t have a removable shield (unfortunately) however reds are probably the best for the price and they have a removable shield which is a bonus because you save a lot of money by just cleaning your bearings instead of going out and buying another 20$ set of bearings.

Sector 9 BHNC Longboard Review

The sector 9 BHNC longboard (or bomb hills not countries longboard) is one of our many new sector 9 longboards. The BHNC has a pintail shape which is perfect for face ripping speeds and as you might of guessed is great for bombing hills. The BHNC is a super wide 10 inch board and is also great for sharp turns so it can be customized for carving as well. The board is also super stiff and responsive. The BHNC is great for beginners and experts alike and you can customize however your heart desires.

The BHNC comes with san clemente trucks and wheels though the san clementes are great for beginners if you’ve mastered the wood beneath your feet then I suggest getting chargers or bombers for trucks if you plan on bombing hills and cruising or if you want to get a real surfy feeling with this board I suggest getting gullwing sidewinders. The BHNC as I have already mentioned comes with san clemente as well, once again though these wheels are fine for beginners experts and intermediates might not find these so tasty. My wheel of choice are any of the sector nine wheels in about a 70-80mm. The BHNC also comes with abec 5 bearings though abec 5′s can get you around town these won’t be able to take the speed of a true hill (I have actually had bearings blow out at high speeds and trust me it’s not fun) I suggest getting reds and before bombing any hills make sure to clean your bearings every now and then and lube them or else they can heat up and when they heat up they warp and can shoot right out of your bearing.

Sector 9 Montage Mini Longboard

The sector 9 montage mini longboard is just about the same as the reno, mosh pit, and 9′er drop. the only difference between the other 3 is that the montage is the smallest of the other 3 which makes it even better for weaving through traffic, hiding in bushes, and all the other great advantages of a mini longboard. The montage is great for not just commuting around the city, to school, work, etc. but it is also great for mini ramping. The montage is also just as customizable as the other 3 but unfortunately the montage doesn’t have wheel cutouts so I definitely don’t recommend sidewinders. The sector 9 montage is a great board for any beginner or expert.

The montage comes with san clemente trucks and wheels, the san clemente’s are great for if you’re just beginning but if you already have riding your board dialed in I suggest getting bombers or chargers. The montage also comes with san clemente wheels, though they’re great for beginners I suggest getting sector wheels in about a 70-75mm wheels. The montage also comes with abec 5 bearings but If you want to make your friends jealous I suggest spending a few extra bucks on the bones reds or sector 9 ceramic bearings

Sector 9 Reno Mini Longboard

The sector 9 reno mini longboard is almost a complete replica of the mosh pit and 9′er drop. However, the reno is a bit thinner. all of the same things apply though, it’s small enough to hide in lockers, behind bushes, just about anywhere you would hide something. The reno also has a fat tail, whatever you would use it for, it’s there but basically it’s just really easy to put your foot there and make it comfortable. The reno can be customized to your hearts content. I recommend the reno to any newbie or expert rider.

The reno comes with san clemente trucks and wheels which of course aren’t bad but you can get a way better setup for just a few extra dollars. I suggest getting gullwing chargers or bombers but just like the mosh pit and 9′er drop you can put just about any truck on the board even sidewinders. However, if you decide to get sidewinders I wouldn’t suggest getting too big of a wheel, because you will get wheelbite even with the cutouts so I suggest about a 60mm with sidewinders or if you get chargers and bombers about a 70mm or 75mm. The Reno also comes with abec 5 bearings but I suggest getting reds if you want to really tear up the streets for just a few extra bucks.

The Sector 9 9'er Drop Mini Longboard

Alright everyone time for another board from sector 9′s mini series. The sector 9 9′er drop mini longboard is actually almost identical to the mosh pit. The 9′er has all of the features of the mosh pit mini such as the amazing ability to be customized to no end, It’s a mini which means great for storing in your locker at the college (if you’re not tearing up the campus) or maybe you’re not one of these youngsters that keep their boards in lockers…It’s also small enough to hide in little crevices to keep your kids, girlfriend, etc. from stealing and showing it off to all of your friends and taking it for themselves (trust me I have one I haven’t gotten it back for a week). The 9′er is an all around great board for absolutely anyone.

The sector 9 9′er drop mini comes with stock san clemente trucks and wheels now really, the san clemente isn’t all bad in fact if you’re a beginner or even an intermediate they’re fine but if you really know what you’re doing on one of these things you can get a much better set up for just a few dollars extra (I don’t know what it would be in other currency but I assure you it’s cheap either way). I suggest getting either chargers or bombers but just like the mosh pit mini you can go as far as getting super tight turning sidewinders and not worry about your wheels grinding your board. Just like all of our great mini longboards and well any longboard for that matter these babies comes with abec 5 bearings now the abec 5′s will get you started but for a real pro I suggest getting bones reds or sector 9 ceramics.

Sector Nine Mosh Pit Mini Longboard

Alright guys I’m back and I know you all missed me. We just got a whole new line of sector nine longboards and mini’s as well. The mosh pit mini brings something new to the table for the sector nine minis. First of all the mosh pit is of course like any mini sleek, and easy to hide away. Though the mosh pit is a little wider and longer than most minis it’s still just as easy to fit into a locker or hide away in the bushes. The Sector nine mosh pit mini longboard also has a super wide tail for not only style but a nice foundation for you to move your foot around on. The mosh pit is also easily customizable thanks to it’s shape and wheel cutout you can get just about any truck possible on there. The mosh pit is an all around great board for beginners and those peel out of their driveways with one of these things.

The mosh pit comes with San clemente trucks and wheels. Whereas the San clemente trucks and wheels aren’t bad for just a few extra dollars you can get some exuberantly better trucks and wheels. I suggest getting either the bombers or chargers for this just because they are less likely to give you wheelbite. However thanks to sector nine for making this board so customizable and compatible with just about any truck you can get something as sensitive as sector nine sidewinders to rock. The mosh pit also comes with abec 5 bearings and just like san clementes though these bearings aren’t bad you can get tearing through the streets in no time just by spending 5-10 extra dollars on some bones reds (which beat everything up until about a 60+ range) but If you want something that will really melt the wheels to your bearings I suggest getting sector nine ceramics

How to Slide on a Sector 9 Longboard

Ok here it is. A lot of people are getting in to longboarding and lots want to know how to slide or if it is hard or what type of wheels do they need, etc. etc. So I’m going to tell you a little bit about sliding and recommend some boards for it. The first thing you are going to need to do is learn how to ride your board. Once you get comfortable riding and have good stability get yourself some slide gloves. Sector 9 has some great longboard slide gloves to check out. The next important thing is a good longboard. One of the sector 9 longboard I would personally recommend would have to be the sector 9 sunset longboard. It has a great low center of gravity which makes sliding much easier. Then you want a nice harder styled wheel for easier sliding something 84a or harder. The shape of the wheel also does make a different. You can really slide on any wheel that is 84a or harder but I would recommend a free-ride style wheel that has rounded edges and doesn’t grip the ground to much.

Now you are ready to start learning how to slide that you have a great set up. If you are learning to slide on flat ground you are going to need a good amount of speed. The easiest way to learn to slide would be leaning toward your front into a push up position as it seems to be a little more comfortable then to lean backwards. You want to make a “question mark” turn. So you will lean slightly to your heal side of the board then hard to your toes and put your hands on the ground and push your feet out. It may take a few tries but you will slowly pick it up and get comfortable doing it. After you get good you can start to learn some other types of slides which are lots of fun!

Sector 9 Greenroom Longboard

The sector 9 cosmic series wouldn’t be complete without the top and bottom graphic styled longboard. This year the sector 9 greenroom takes the cake with the choice for that graphic. The graphic is an amazing shot from inside a wave barrel. The sector 9 greenroom is made from maple and fiberglass which are sandwiched together to create a nice smooth flex that creates smooth flowing turns just like you’re riding a glassy little wave. The shorter wheelbase on the greenroom makes for great manuverability.

The sector 9 greenroom longboard can be set up with a variety of trucks, some of the best choices for the greenroom are gullwing missions, gullwing chargers 9″, randal 150mm, and paris 150mm. A nice sized wheel from 64mm to 65mm in size is the perfect fit for this board. Sector 9 has also recently made available so high grade bearings, the ones I would put on the sector 9 greenroom would have to be the new sector 9 cosmic bearings as they were designed with for this board!

Sector 9 Big Rock Bamboo Mini Longboard

Out with the old and in with the new. The sector 9 big rock is the new version in the bamboo longboard line up. It is fast, smooth, and lots of fun to ride, not to mention super MINI sized. The size allows for super sharp turns and is highly manuverable and is great for around town transportation. The fresh new graphic on the bottom is of an amazing barrel at big rock surf spot. This mini bamboo longboard is a must have is you love the bamboo boards and want something on the shorter end, not to mention it is a great price!

The sector 9 big rock longboard should be set up with some gullwing missions for optimal turning at a great price. Rush abec 5 bearings are nice and smooth for this smooth little I mean “BIG ROCK”. As far as wheels go I wouldn’t go any bigger than 64mm as you will start to have problems with wheel bite and that just isn’t any fun.

Sector 9 Kiwi Longboard

The sector 9 longboard kiwi mini is everything you could ever ask for…in a compact little board. The kiwi is perfect for cruising around town or carving up the parks. The kiwi also has perfect portability meaning it’s Uber easy to carry around. I recommend the kiwi to anyone who likes to cruise or carve.

For the kiwi I recommend getting the gullwing sidewinders no matter what unless you’re mini ramping then I suggest chargers. If you’re going to get new wheels for the kiwi I recommend using anything with a 60+mm. and if you’re looking to buy new bearings I recommend reds or sector 9 ceramics

The Sector 9 Longboard Superfish Longboard

The sector 9 superfish longboard is great for just cruising around town, but can be customized to do just about anything you want. In other words the superfish is all around great board for beginners, or those jack-of-all trades. the superfish also has wheel cutouts to make sure your wheels aren’t kissing up against your board. I recommend the superfish to any beginner.

This sector 9 longboard comes with those cruddy old san clemente trucks and wheels but I recommend getting sidewinder trucks for this board. I don’t much recommend it for downhill anyways but it CAN be used for it and if you do decide to do it i would recommend the chargers or bombers. Also if you decide to get some bangin’ new bearings I recommend reds or sector 9 ceramics.

The Sector 9 Bert Review

Ever wondered what it’s like to to skate on water? well the sector 9 bert scribble longboard will let you show you what it’s like to skate on concrete. The bert scribble comes with wheel cutouts to keep the wheels from lovin’ up against your wood and sometimes boards can get pretty freaky. I recommend the bert scribble to any carver or cruise.

The bert scribble is both a great carver and cruiser I recommend the gullwing sidewinders for both occasions. If you’re going to get new wheels I recommend anything 70mm +. If you’re looking to buy new bearings I recommend getting reds or sector 9 ceramics ( if you dare)

Sector 9 Luke Longboard

Ever wanted to Know what surfing felt like? Well the Sector 9 Luke longboard is just that…It’s a surfboard on wheels! Now given it’s ridiculously huge…you know what they…size doesn’t matter…well when it comes to skateboarding it does you could roll over a semi with this thing (or a really big rock).

I would definitely consider this more of a cruiser or downhill board. I recommend any wheels bigger than 70mm. If you’re looking to bu new trucks for this board I recommend getting either the sidewinders for cruising or chargers for downhill. And if you’re looking for bearings I suggest reds or sector 9 ceramics.

The Sector 9 Bert Scribble

The sector 9 bert scribble longboard is another one of those perfect-for-everything type boards. The bert scribble is great for carving, downhill, cruising. The bert scribble comes with a mellow concave and flex for both great carving and downhill. The scribble also comes with wheel cutouts for reduced wheelbite. I recommend the bert scribble to anyone who wants a long lasting great all around longboard.

If you’re going to get new trucks for this board I recommend getting gullwing chargers or bombers for downhill or if you’re looking to carve and cruise I would recommend gullwing sidewinders. If you’re going to get new Wheels I recommend getting anything in a 70+mm (sector 9′s, orangutangs, abec 11 gumballs, etc.). Sector 9 Mundaka Longboard

The sector 9 mundaka longboard is a might big but none-the-less is good for just about anything whether it’s carving at the park, tearing up a ditch, cruising the streets, or bombing hills this board does it all. The mundaka is also comes with very mellow concave and just a enough flexibility to help you carving but not enough to send you flying everywhich way when bombing hills. I recommend the mundaka to absolutely anyone.

The mundaka comes with our stock wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better gear. If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth the price.

Sector 9 Fingers Longboard Review

The sector 9 fingers longboard is a great board for beginners, carving, cruising, ditch slashing, bombing hills, because it has a pretty mellow concave. The fingers also comes with a slight kicktail and wheel cutouts that help prevent wheelbite. I recommend the fingers to anyone for anything.

The fingers comes with our stock san clemente wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better equipment. If you’re going to get new trucks for this board I recommend getting gullwing chargers or bombers for downhill or if you’re looking to carve and cruise I would recommend gullwing sidewinders. If you’re going to get new Wheels I recommend getting anything in a 60+mm (sector 9′s, orangutangs, abec 11 gumballs, etc.). If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth it.

Sector 9 Goddess Longboard Review

The Sector 9 goddess longboard is A great beginner board simply because it can be used for just about anything, more for someone who doesn’t have a specific type of longboard they like say cruising, carving, downhill, slalom, sliding…this board does it all. The goddess is a decently longboard but not as long as some and has a long wheelbase for longer smoother turns. I recommend the goddess to absolutely everyone.
The goddess comes with our stock san clemente wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better stuff. If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth it.

Sector 9 Bintang Longboard Review

The sector 9 Bintang longboard is a great all around board, whether you’re cruising, bombing hills, or carving at the parks. The bingtang is a very surfy feeling board it gives just the right ammount of flex to where it’s comfortable to carve but not too much to where you would die if you bombed hills. I recommend the Bintang to anyone who loves longboarding.

The bintang comes with our stock wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better gear. If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth the price.

Sector 9 Cosmic Weave Longboard Review

the Sector 9 cosmic weave longboard is great for carving and cruising but I wouldn’t recommend it for downhill because of all the flex and shorter wheelbase. Like I mentioned before the cosmic weave has a shorter wheelbase then most which makes it turn sharper and would give you speed wobble. The cosmic weave is a superb board for carving however because of the flex which helps you pump for speed and snap into and out of the turns. I recommend the cosmic weave to anyone who wants to carve or cruise.

The cosmic weave comes with our stock wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the goodies. If you’re going to get new trucks for this board I recommend getting gullwing sidewinders. If you’re going to get new Wheels I recommend getting anything in a 70+mm (sector 9′s, orangutangs, abec 11 gumballs, etc.). If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth the price.

Sector 9 Cosmic Sun Longboard Review

The sector 9 cosmic sun longboard is a great longboard for downhill, carving, and cruising. The cosmic sun comes with a light kicktail and lots of concave and flex for ultimate control of the board and to help you snap into those turns on the pockets. I recommend the cosmic sun to any beginner or expert for whatever occasion.

The cosmic sun comes with our stock san clemente wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better stuff. If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth it.

Sector 9 Haleiwa Bamboo Longboard

The sector 9 Haleiwa bamboo longboard is great for carving and cruising, But I wouldn’t recommend this for downhill. The Haleiwa is made of bamboo which is great for the environment considering that bamboo is a weed and grows 4 feet or more a week. The Haleiwa is cut in a way that virtually eliminates wheelbite. I recommend the haleiwa to anyone beginner or expert.

The TR3 comes with our stock wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better gear.

Sector 9 Star Longboard Review

The sector 9 star longboard is a great downhill and cruising board, it can be used for carving but sector 9 offers much better carving boards. The sector 9 star longboard is cut in a way that almost totally elminates wheelbite. The 9 star has a mount flush trucks for a lower center of gravity which in turn gives you crazy speed and stability on hills. I recommend the 9 star to any beginner or expert.

The 9 star comes with our stock wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better equipment. If you’re going to get new trucks for this board I recommend getting gullwing chargers or bombers. If you’re going to get new Wheels I recommend getting anything in a 70+mm (sector 9′s, orangatangs, abec 11 gumballs, etc.). If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth the price.

Sector 9 Carbon Spoontail Longboard

The sector 9 carbon spoontail longboard is great for downhill, carving, and cruising. The spoontail has is super durable made with 4 layers of maple with 2 layers of fiberglass in the center. The spoontail has good concave and for ultimate control and carving. I recommend the spoontail to any begginer or expert carver or downhiller.

The spoontail comes with our stock wheels, trucks, and bearings. I recommend paying just a little extra for the better gear. If you’re looking to buy bearings I recommend reds or if you want to pay a little extra, the sector 9 ceramics which are definitely worth the price.

Sector 9 Sidewinder Longboard Review

The sidewinder series sector 9 longboards are becoming ever popular as the news spreads about these double king-pin styled trucks that take carving and slalom riding to a new level! It is the only cosmic styled sidewinder longboard which means it has lots of flex and utilizes the fiber-glass layers. It has a super small wheelbase which makes the turning on this longboard insane! It will turn sharper than any other sector 9 longboard. It is great for crusing around town or campus as it is super small, stealthy and very light weight. The biggest draw back of the board is the height you stand off the ground due to the gullwing sidewinder trucks. The other boards in the sidewinder series utilizes a flushmounted truck that allows the longboard to be at a normal height. It doesn’t take long to get used to the height though and if you are a beginner you wont even know the difference.

The sector 9 dawn patrol longboard should be set up with the gullwing sidewinder trucks and nothing less! You want the 69mm slalom sector 9 wheels for this longboard as they were designed for this board specifically for its hard carving turns. The bearing is where you can save some cash and keep it simple with a nice smooth abec 5 bearing.

Sector Nine Scarab Longboard Review

The most popular carving style sector 9 longboard has to be the scarab. It is the rasta inspired carving longboard that you have probably seen around as it quite possibly is the most popular longboard of all time! It is a true pintail shape at 40-inches long and 9.2-inches wide which creates a nice mid ranged size board that is easy to balance and is very sturdy for carves and high speed. It is a taco mold deck and has a mild concave to help grip to your feet. It really is the best all around longboard. It is great for slalom style downhill riding, cruising, and is even great for slides. It has one of the shortest wheelbases of the carver series sector 9 longboards which creates better turning capability.

You can set this longboard up in so many different ways. It really just depends on what you are looking for so I’ll give a few ideas on how to set it up for a few styles of riding. If you are looking for speed, carving, and downhill riding you want the 10″ gullwing charger trucks, some sector 9 platinum abec 9 bearings, and the 69mm slalom style wheels in the red color! If you want to use the sector 9 scarab longboard for a pure cruiser, keep it simple with a standard truck, 64-65mm wheel, and some nice abec 5 bearings. If you want a mix of each get the charger trucks, abec 5 bearings, and the 65mm nineball wheels.

Sector 9 Bintang Longboard Review

If you are looking for a surf inspired longboard with lots of flex the sector 9 cosmic series longboards are what you want. The bintang is the original sector 9 cosmic 1 longboard with a new graphic but the same old feel. This board is 38-inches long and 8.5 inches wide and provides lots of flex for smooth flowing turns. It is a great crusier style longboard that is very popular among the college student wanting to cruise the board to and around campus. It has a 25-inch wheelbase which is a mid range size that allows for good manuvering. It is super light-weight as it is pressed with a few very thin layers of maple wood and fiberglass that gives it the flex and strength. The sector 9 bintang wasn’t designed as a carver or downhill style longboard as the flex doesn’t give the rider enough control at high speeds. It does however provide a nice smooth cruiser that is great for sidewalk surfing.

The sector 9 bintang longboard is a good longboard and is a good mid ranged price that usually ranges from $130-$160. You can keep this sector 9 board simple as you don’t need any fancy trucks, wheels or bearings as it truly is just a cruiser longboard. I would recommend a 64-65mm sized wheel and a stanard gullwing mission longboard truck. A nice simple abec 5 bearing will do the trick for a smooth fast ride and also helps to keep the cost down.

Sector 9 Luke Longboard Review

The big daddy of all the sector 9 longboards is the luke longboard. It is the largest sector 9 longboard. This thing truly is massive! It is 55-inches long which is nearly 5-foot long! It is also 11-inches wide which gives such a huge base and is the smoothest riding board I have ever been on. I don’t know what it is about this longboard but it seems to turn in such a small circumference and surprises me each time I cruise around on it. The board wasn’t made for carving but truly for sidewalk surfing. It is a great crusing longboard that can get you to your destination very quickly. The best and worst things about this board are the size. It is a good thing because it makes for a stable fast good crusing board. At the same time the large size is a draw back because it isn’t easy to lug around or store once you get to your destination. This board weighs around 15 pounds, so it is good to keep in mind that the large size can be a hassle at times.

Something that I feel makes this board able to turn the way it does is the wheel size. Most people want to throw on a huge wheel for more speed and smoother riding however I think the sector 9 luke longboard should have a smaller wheel nothing larger than 64mm in size. The smaller sized wheel lets you lean into the board and allows the board to turn really sharp. If you put a larger wheel on the board you will have to tighten your trucks and it will take away the turning ability. Gullwing missions are the best fit for this board as they have nice soft bushings that make the turns smooth. A good abec 5 bearing is also a good choice for this board.

Review: Sector 9 Sunset Longboard

The sector 9 sunset bamboo longboard is one of the newest editions to the sector 9 line-up. This board is the most high performance style bamboo longboard made by sector 9. The board is fast, smooth, sharp turning, and highly stable. The deck of the bamboo sunset uses a “W” concave with a mild camber which allows strength and still gives the longboard a little bit of flex. The trucks are top mounted on this board which give it the lowest center of gravity of any of the sector longboards. It is 42 inches long and 9.5 inches wide which is perfect for stability at high speeds and while carving down hills. The wheelbase is around 30 inches long which creates very smooth flowing turns. The nose and tail of the board are tapered to allow for large wheels that can get you over any type of riding surface. A low center of gravity board is very useful as it creates so much more balance on the board and also makes speed wobbles more scarce. It also makes sliding a lot easier as you are so much closer to the ground.

If you’re thinking about getting this sector 9 longboard make sure to set it up for ultimate performance. I would get the 10 inch gullwing charger trucks as the deck was designed perfectly so the trucks will sit flat on the top of the board. Either the sector 9 74mm wheels or some orangatang wheels are a good choice for this board as they will grip the ground and allow for great carves at high speeds. The sector 9 platinum bearings are a perfect fit for this bamboo longboard!

Sector 9 Waimea Bamboo Longboard Review

If you’re looking for a good cruising longboard that is easy to ride, smooth, and can turn great the sector 9 waimea is a great longboard for you! The board is 39.5 inches long and 9.375 inches wide which makes for a very stable ride and makes balancing on the board really easy, even for beginners. It has a “W” concave and a slight camber which adds strength to the board and still allows for a minimal amount of flex. It has a mid-sized wheelbase which is the distance from the front and back trucks which makes for smooth flowing turns. The waimea can even be used to bomb down hills if you really wanted to as it has a carver style shape that allows for good carving.

To maximize your smooth turns on this sector 9 bamboo longboard you should get the gullwing charger trucks as they are great carving trucks and provide more stability than most other longboard trucks. If you are just cruising the board around town and not doing in hill bombing I would recommend some nice 64-70mm sized wheels which will be fast and very smooth riding even on bumpy surfaces. A good bearing like abec 7 or bones reds will allow for easier riding and smoother turning so don’t cut yourself short with a cheap bearing for this board!

Hybrid Bamboo Skate Longboard

If you love the bamboo style longboards and are looking for a hybrid styled board look no further than the sector 9 laniakea bamboo longboard. This is a great cruiser style longboard that provides a somewhat standard skateboard shape with a tail. The tail makes turning much easier and ollies possible. This board wasn’t designed for carving or high speeds but it is a great board for commuting and also for beginner riders as it is smooth and easy to balance on. It is 36.75 inches long which makes for super sturdy board. It is fully constructed with 7 plys of bamboo wood which give it just a little bit of flex when riding.

This is one of the sector 9 longboards that doesn’t need any of the fancy components as it really is a true cruiser board. You can put on a standard style skate truck to keep the cost minimal with a smaller sized wheel from 60-65mm in size. If you are want to be able to cruise at faster speeds just get an upgraded bearing like some bones reds or something comparable.

Most Popular Sector 9 Bamboo Longboard

The bamboo series of longboards from sector 9 are all very popular but one of them seems to get the most attention. That board is the sector 9 haleiwa. This little longboard is a hybrid mix between bamboo series and sidewinder series unlike any other board in the sector 9 longboards series. It is fully constructed from 100% bamboo wood and is the same shape as the older sector 9 cosmic 1 shape. It can take turning to new levels with the sidewinder trucks and short wheelbase at under 2 foot long. The deck is 8.8 inches wide which gives you a good stable area for your feet when carving. The bamboo wood also allows for a little bit of flex in and out of turns which helps to maximize your speed.

The haleiwa sector 9 longboard should be set up with gullwing sidewinder trucks with no other substitutes if you are looking for a hard, sharp turning board. You also need a flat edged slalom style wheel when using the sidewinder trucks to allow for enough friction against the ground so you don’t slide around too much when turning. Any abec 5 or higher bearing will definitely do the trick with this little cruiser.

Mini Bamboo Longboard

The smallest sector 9 longboard is the bamboo series bambino mini longboard. This board is the same shape and size as the popular patches mini. Bamboo longboards have been gaining popularity for years and are probably the most popular type of longboard. The bambino is a great little cruiser that is super fast, smooth, and sharp turning. It has the shortest wheel base of all the sector 9 longboards at just 14.25 inches long. It is a great board for getting around town or campus as it is so small you can stash it away in your back pack or under your chair in class. It is constructed fully of 100% bamboo wood which is a great material for the environment.

The recommended set up for this sector 9 bamboo longboard is simple. You don’t need any fancy style trucks, wheels, or bearings as it really isn’t needed on this board. I would go with a simple standard truck and a smaller 60-65mm wheel. As for bearings you can set it up with some abec 5 bearings and it should be very quick and smooth.

Platinum Downhill Longboard

The #1 rated performing downhill sector 9 longboard has to be the kommi longboard. This board was built for speed, carving, and downhill performance and that’s it! It utilizes the popular drop through flush mount that sector 9 commonly uses to allow for a low center of gravity without taking away any of the deck for foot placement. The board is mid ranged at 38 inches in length and 9 inches wide. It has a 28.5 inch wheelbase which takes up almost the whole length of the deck which makes this longboard the best downhill board they make. The wheelbase is perfectly set up for sharp carving turns but with the trucks set up at the ends of the deck it also makes for a smoother controlled feel while carving. The board is also pressed from 8 plys, unlike the usual 7 of maple would which creates a nice stiff board which is really what you want for an ultimate downhill style board.

This board was designed for the gullwing charger trucks in 9 or 10 inches. I would personally say to put the 10 inch truck on it as it will allow for more stability when hitting toe side turns at high speeds. The 74mm sector 9 race formula wheels are a perfect match for this board. They will last a long time and are grippy while at the same time still just hard enough to last. The sector nine racing bearings were made for the sector 9 kommi longboard!

The Platinum Sector 9 Longboard

The platinum series of sector 9 longboards are top of the line boards! For the most part they made for speed, downhill, and hard carving! The wedge longboard is one of the highest performing boards in the series. It is super light weight, with the perfect amount of flex for hard carves and good down hill stability. The board is 42 inches long and 9.25 inches wide which gives a nice stable platform for wicked speed and carving down hills. It is formed from mahogany, aspen, and fiberglass that forms a unique look and most of all feel. It is a great all around board that is possible one of the most unknown longboards in the sector 9 line-up.

The sector 9 wedge longboard should be set up with the best components as it is a high performance board. The gullwing chargers were designed to match up with this board perfectly and allow for great turns and high speed stability. I would probably put an abec 11 style wheel on this board as they tend to last longer than most other wheels when carving hard at high speeds down hills. As for bearings I wouldn’t do anything less than abec 7 to allow for the highest speeds possible. If you’re looking to maximize the boards capabilities put some bones ceramics as they are the fastest bearings known to man!

Sector 9 Longboards

The small company that was started in San Diego in 1993 has now become a massive company. Sector 9 longboards was started by a group of skater friends that were given a small investment by their parents to get started. What an investment that turned out to be. The past year Sector 9 did over 100-million dollars in sales! Not bad for a small start up investment of around 10,000 dollars.

Sector 9 longboard company also was just recently acquired by Billabong who owns nearly half of the skate and surf industry companies these days. Sector 9 really has progressed over the years in growth and they also have progressed in the style and performance of their longboards. The boards now incorporate fully laminated bamboo layers and things like fiberglass and carbon fiber to add flexibility which allows for great turning capabilities. Sector 9 really is ahead of the pack in the longboard industry.

Sector 9 is More Than Just a Longboard Company!

Sector 9 Skateboards

Sector 9 is not just a longboarding company, they’re a skateboard company! The mini series of sector 9 is a perfect example of them being more than just a longboard company. A great board from the sector 9 mini series is the Sector 9 Kiwi Mini Longboard. It comes with a standard sized skateboard truck in the gullwing mission. By standard it just means it is the same design as any other skateboard truck such as independent or venture. As to wear more common longboard style trucks use a reverse kingpin style truck. This sector 9 longboard is best paired with a smaller sized wheel from 61mm-65mm in size.

The Sector 9 shorties are gerat for tricks, travel, filming, the car, whatever. They don’t need to be long to cruise and hide easily in the bushes. The Kiwi is Great for airport travel due to its uniquely small size. It is also very quick and rides very smooth. You can do all the same tricks on this board that you can on a standard skateboard. The mini’s are also great at the skateparks!

Sector 9 Longboards

If you are looking to purchase a longboard make sure to do your research and purchase the correct board. A good company to take a look at is Sector 9. They have been in the longboard industry for almost 2 decades. They make lots of different types of longboards; crusier longboards, racing longboards, down hill longboards, hybrid longboards, slalom longboards, bamboo longboards, longboards made from carbon fiber and are always on the cutting edge of the coolest newest creations.

Sector 9 has longboards for any type of rider, beginner, racer, slalom, or just for crusing type of riders. The quality of their boards really is second to none and are as good of quality as any boards out there. Generally beginners should go for a mid to larger sized board as they are much easy to learn how to ride. A larger longboard offers more room for your feet and is much more sturdy and easy to balance.

Another feature Sector 9 longboards tend to have is flex. A flexible board offers a different type of riding similar to that of surfing and they offer smoother turning. A stiffer style board will offer quicker more responsive turning and will also allow the rider to reach higher speeds without losing control of the board. There is so much to a longboard so make sure to do your research and get the correct board.

Another Great Down-Hill Longboard

Yes it’s true! There is a new release in the sector 9 platinum series longboards. The newest downhill longboard is the 9-Star. Sector 9 Longboards makes a classic down hill longboard called the Sector 9 9-Star Longboard. The longboard has a classic down hill shape and utilizes a some what newer method of top mounting the trucks to allow for a lower center of gravity. A top mount is my preferred method of truck mounting. It is similar to the flush mount only I feel even better as it is a stronger mount and also allows for an even lower riding board. Yep the lower center of gravity is great to prevent speed wobbles. Also a lower center of gravity makes it easier to power slide. This board would be a great one to learn how to power slide especially for a beginner.

I would recommend this board with the 10″ gullwing charger trucks. I would put a flat edged or slalom style wheel on this board. Make sure you go with 69-76mm wheels. The length and wheel base of the board allow for smooth turns even at high speeds. It has a nice stiff deck which is great for a downhill board. This is my favorite board that sector 9 makes right now. It is going to be my next purchase!
