Off The Wall 2 Sector 9 Longboard

Sector 9 Off The Wall 2 Longboard

The off the wall 2 sector 9 longboard is super fast and one of the best turning boards you can get. It uses the gullwing sidewinder trucks with a flush mounted drop through system which allows the board to sit low to the ground but still gives you the full length of the longboard deck for foot placement. It is a great longboard to pair up with some slalom styled wheels like the 69mm sector 9 wheels, or even better put some retro zigzag 70mm wheels on it as they offer several different hardness's for you to find just the right one for sliding or if just want something soft and grippy. Sector 9 cosmic bearings are a perfect fit on this little mini longboard for ultimate smooth spinning wheels.

Sector 9 Fingers Longboard

Sector 9 Fingers Longboard Complete

The sector 9 fingers is probably one of the hidden gems in the sector 9 line-up. Like the superfish longboard it is 37.5" long and 9.5" wide. It has a nice kicktail with a v-notch cut out. The deck is nice and wide with a firm flex that makes for an easy stable ride even for the beginner riders. It has a pretty short wheelbase, which is the distance from the front to back of the trucks which helps create smaller circumference turns. The longer your wheelbase the smoother the turn but also it takes away from how tight of turns you can make. The sector 9 fingers is the newer version of the older sector 9 roots model. It's almost identical graphic except they styled the colors different to let the wood grain come through nicely on the fingers board.

This sector 9 is a hybrid styled longboard from the cloud nine series. It is a great cruiser longboard that can get you around town quickly, but also is shaped with a nice tail to allow you to hit the local skateboard park if you are wanting. The shape of the deck doesn't allow for wheels any larger than 65mm on this board unless you put an insane amount of riser pads which in turns takes away stability and natural feeling as it lifts the board of the ground too much. You can keep it simple when choosing bearings on this longboard and go with something simple like an abec 5 bearing because anything else really wont help you go much faster.

Sector 9 Bintang

Sector 9 Bintang Longboard

The sector 9 bintang is the most popular longboard in the cosmic series. It has the perfect size deck at 38" long and 8.5 inches wide. It has lots of spring in the deck which makes pumping in and out of turns nice and easy which will create speed and help you maintain your speed. It can carve the streets pretty good but I wouldn't recommend it on any large hills as the stability just isn't the best for down hill riding. It is a very light weight longboard which makes it easy to carry around or take on an airplane when traveling.

The preferred set-up from the sector 9 factory is with some gullwing mission trucks, sector 9 greaseball bearings, and 65mm sector 9 wheels. If you really want the best out of the board I would recommend 9" gullwing charger trucks which help the board to turn much smoother and creates more stability at higher speeds. I would also recommend some retro 70mm zigzag wheels and some bones reds bearings which will allow for lots of speed and smooth turning wheels.

Sector 9 Grinder Longboard

Sector 9 Grinder Longboard Complete

The grinder is part of the sector nine cosmic series of longboards. It is the longest board in the series at 46" long. It has a nice flex with a cambered deck which creates super smooth turns. The grinder is actually the first model from the spring 2009 sector 9 line-up to be discontinued. It is soon being replaced by the sector 9 whistler longboard which showing some respect to the snowboard side of concrete surfing. The grinder is the most stable longboard of any of the cosmic series boards. It is the same shape of the popular mundaka longboard just has a slightly different graphic.

This longboard should be paired up with some gullwing alpine or gullwing charger trucks for nice smooth turns. It is a big board so it is easy to get to high speeds especially if you pair it up with some nice wheels that are 70mm in size. They are the perfect size wheel for this longboard as they don't create wheel bite but are big enough to make for a nice fast smooth ride around the streets. If you are thinking about getting a sector 9 grinder make sure to get it quickly because it wont be around much longer!

Bamboo Longboard

The sector 9 sunset bamboo longboard was the most popular longboard for the spring/summer of 2009. It had an amazing shape that was long and wide for great down-hill riding and hard carves. It was the first bamboo drop through top mount longboard that sector nine has developed thus far. It is currently on back order through almost everyone as they are working on redeveloping this board due to a few issues they were having at the drop through point. It is currently being developed and will be back on the market under a new name sometime in August, 2009. It will be improved and better than ever so make sure to keep an eye out for the release of the new bamboo longboard.

This style of longboard should be set up with wide gullwing charger trucks for optimal performance and an amazing ride. The 10" gullwing chargers in all black are what I would recommend as the black trucks really set off the bamboo wood deck. You really want a nice wheel in the mid 70's size. I would suggest either the 74mm sector 9 wheels, the retro 75mm big zigs, or the abec ll gumballs which are 76mm in size and come in a variety of hardness's. All of this wheels will allow for good carves and high speed turns because they have a wide contact area which creates enough friction to turns at high speeds without any bounce. The last recommendation would be the bearings for this bamboo longboard. The best bearing for this board would be bones swiss bearings. They are an amazingly fast bearing and they will last quite a while if you take care of them. It really is worth the extra cash to get some good bearings for this board. It will take you to new levels out on the streets.
